Balgownie Village General Practice would like to advise our patients that we do not use this service for our online patient bookings. Our practice uses HotDoc who have a strict policy in place to handle patient data.
• HotDoc does not pass on any patient data to 3rd parties.
• HotDoc does not engage in 3rd party advertising

Karina is a Credentialed Diabetes Educator and Consultant Pharmacist. Karina has over 20 years experience in pharmacy and 4 years experience as a diabetes educator. Karina focuses on low carbohydrate real food diets targeting slowing down progression of type 2 diabetes and making patients with diabetes feel better everyday.

Karina specialises in type 2 diabetes, hyperinsulinaemia, metabolic syndrome, PCOS and gestational diabetes. Her focus is to empower patients to make better choices with regard to their conditions.

Patient Interactions focus on:

• Empowering the individual to achieve sustainable and realistic lifestyle changes
• halting the progression of type 2 diabetes and hyperinsulinaemia
• guiding patients to participate in their own health care
• tailoring nutrition changes to the patient’s goal
• aiming to normalise insulin through personalised carbohydrate restriction.

As a consultant Pharmacist Karina is able to perform medication reviews for patients with complex medication needs.

Dr Michael Speed completed his medical degree and training at the University of NSW. He has practiced as a General Practitioner with our Practice since 1981. Doctor Speed currently works Monday, Tuesday and Thursday each week.

Dr Farrugia grew up in Sydney and completed his degree at the University of Sydney. He moved to the Illawarra area in 1990 and has been practising as a GP with our Practice since that time. Dr Farrugia is available on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday of each week.
